The real rockstar of the show, who lived as a coward but died as a hero, Eddie Munson, is dead. You heard that right, if you’re a believer of his return, if you read the theories about it, or even have one of your own, I’m afraid it doesn’t matter. Because everyone’s favorite, D&D-loving star, who stole the show, is gone for good.

Unfortunately for the loving fans of rock, D&D, comic relief, and the one person who embodies all three of those in Stranger Things, they are going to be disappointed with the official news that the Duffer brothers themselves confirmed that Eddie Munson will not return in Season 5. Despite how much they even loved his performance, actor Joseph Quinn just had too much on his plate to give Stranger Things another go.

What Did the Duffer Brothers Say About Eddie Munson’s Return?

One of the series’s showrunners, Matt Duffer, commented about one of the fan favorite characters’ death back in season 4 in an interview with Empire. Though he did express how much of a great performer and overall a fun person to be with, Joseph Quinn just had plenty of projects in his hands that he couldn’t make room for more Stranger Things.

“I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead, Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.” – Matt Duffer.

Though, unfortunately, we lost yet another lovable character in Stranger Things because of the monsters from the Upside Down, it is still worth remembering them as the heroes they are. Not only that they sacrifice their lives to save a city that doesn’t even know them, but they also become an inspiration for the rest of the crew so that they can save the world.
