Stranger Things season five is soon landing on Netflix, and Hawkins’ own Finn Wolfhard has admitted he was left “confused and sad” by his character’s ending.

The ever-popular horror series is fast approaching its fifth and final season after production wrapped in December. Series regulars Gaten Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown, out gay star Noah Schnapp, and Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, are all set to return.

Wolfhard has been a part of the series since filming launched in November 2015 – when he was just 13 years old – and has had to navigate saying goodbye to his beloved character after almost a decade.

“I was so happy with his ending, and I don’t know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy,” the 22-year-old said to People Magazine.

Wolfhard added that filming for the finale “was definitely a lot”. “I felt like I was in a dream or something,” he continued. “None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect.”

The star said he was in disbelief when filming his last scene in season 5 of Stranger Things.

“I just couldn’t believe it at all. It didn’t really start to go into focus until the next day. It was like an emotional hangover,” Wolfhard explained. “But it ended really well, and I just have such positive things to say about everyone.”

Wolfhard concluded: “The cast all stayed for the last day, we were all there together. It was really great to be around each other.”

Although fans might be disappointed that the series is coming to an end, co-creators and executive producers Ross and Matt Duffer have promised a season that’s bigger than ever.
