Julie Chrisley Speaks Out in Her First Interview Since Her Prison Release (Exclusive)
In her first public interview since receiving a presidential pardon and being released from prison, Julie Chrisley, star of the reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best, opened up about her time behind bars, her family’s emotional reunion, and her plans for the future.
Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, were convicted in 2022 on charges of tax evasion and bank fraud, resulting in sentences of seven and twelve years, respectively. After serving over two years, both were granted full pardons by President Donald Trump on May 27, 2025 .
Speaking from her Nashville home, Julie recounted the challenges of incarceration. “Prison was a humbling experience,” she said. “I faced conditions I never imagined, but I also found strength I didn’t know I had.” She described the unsanitary food and limited resources, noting that she often relied on simple meals like tuna and peanut butter .
Julie also shared the emotional moment of reuniting with her family. “Seeing Todd and our children again was overwhelming,” she said. “We’ve been through so much, but our love and faith kept us connected.” Their daughter, Savannah, played a significant role in advocating for their release, even speaking directly with President Trump, who remarked, “You guys don’t look like terrorists to me” .
Since returning home, Julie has embraced a new look, opting for her natural brown hair with gray roots instead of her signature platinum blonde. “This is the real me,” she stated. “I’ve changed, and I want my appearance to reflect that” .
Looking ahead, Julie and Todd are planning a return to television with a new reality series documenting their life post-prison. “We want to share our journey, the highs and lows, and hopefully inspire others facing adversity,” Julie explained. The series aims to provide an honest look at their experiences and the lessons they’ve learned.
In addition to their television plans, the Chrisleys are focusing on family and community. “We’re committed to making amends and giving back,” Julie emphasized. “Our faith has guided us through this ordeal, and we’re grateful for a second chance.”
Julie’s candid interview offers a glimpse into her resilience and determination to rebuild her life. As she and her family navigate this new chapter, they remain united in their commitment to growth, redemption, and sharing their story with the world.
