Everything We Know About LANDMAN SEASON 2
It’s been a little over a month since the Landman season one finale aired, and there’s been no news yet regarding season two.
However this week, star Michelle Randolph shared an update on the second season with T&C. “I am just really excited that people love it so much, and I think that if we get a chance to keep doing it, I’ll do it as long as Taylor lets us,” she said.
Previously, Demi Moore had said that they would be returning for a second season at the “beginning” of 2025, but there has been no definitive confirmation thus far.
“I understand that if we’re going to do that — season 2 — that it’s going to be sometime around February, March, somewhere in there,” Billy Bob Thornton said last year. “I mean, we’ll see. It just depends on how the chips may fall, you never know in this business.”
In a separate interview earlier this year, Thorton revealed, “Taylor keeps it pretty close to the vest until it’s time… when he knows it’s time, he’ll let me know. And when he lets me know, he really lets me know the whole thing. It’s kind of like you want to get all the dust out of the corners before the family gets home when you’re cleaning the house. He really wants it to be where it’s supposed to be before any of us hear about it.”
The Direct recently noted that Landman Season 2 was spotted on the production list on the Film & Television Industry Alliance, with production scheduled to begin on February 28, 2025. Paramount+ has yet to confirm a season two renewal, but all signs seem promising for the oil drama.
The first season of Landman was a smash hit for Paramount. The latest Taylor Sheridan drama about the Texas oil industry premiered to roughly 15 million viewers in its first week, according to Variety. Although the series has had its ups and downs ever since, the onscreen pairing of Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter has kept the series interesting from episode to episode. Thornton was even nominated for a Golden Globe!
Landman follows a Texas oil patch manager—aka a landman—named Tommy Norris (Thornton), as he seeks to keep the peace between the workers and the company’s billionaire owner, Monty Miller (Jon Hamm). It’s one of those Advil-a-day jobs. Tommy also has his family to manage, which includes his on-again, off again ex-wife Angela (Larter) and his 17-year-old daughter, Ainsley (Michelle Randolph). There’s also his son, Cooper (Jacob Laughlin), who dropped out of college to learn how to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Every new cast member creates more issues for Tommy week by week. In the penultimate episode, his latest call to Monty put his boss in the hospital with a heart attack. After a cliff-hanger showing his hospital monitor in flux, it’s looking like Hamm may not make it to season 2. The finale didn’t give us many more answers. Tommy spent most of the final hour fending off the local cartel. As if the Landman didn’t have enough problems already, it seems as if the finale also set up season 2’s next villain.
Will There Be a Landman Season 2?
If you ask Demi Moore (The Substance), the answer is a resounding yes. The recent Golden Globe winner plays Monty’s criminally underused wife, Cami Miller. When she spoke with Deadline this past summer at the Cannes Film Festival, Moore revealed that she expects to return to Texas to film season 2.
“I’ve already completed the first season, and I’m excited for us to start the second, which will be at the beginning of next year,” Moore said. “It’s a very interesting world in the boomtown of Fort Worth, Texas. It’s kind of this subculture that we haven’t seen before, which is what I think Taylor [Sheridan] does so well.”
In an interview with Elle, Ali Larter also confirmed that there’s already a plan to film season 2. When asked if production had a timeline for the next season, Larter responded, “We do.”
Larter continued: “Just announce it!” She also revealed that she’s hoping Angela and Tommy have more scenes in bed together in the next season. “That connection—that unlikely love story—is something really interesting,” she said. “We’re going to see, as the [next] season unfolds, that Angela’s going to be in a different place in her life again. I think that her priorities have changed, so you’ll see some of that unfolding.”
We’ll have to wait until then to see where Landman heads next, but it seems as if season 2 will begin filming shortly. In the meantime, Sheridan will keep viewers busy with the second season of 1923 and the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off, The Madison.
